London, October 12, 2006 – Sony Ericsson today announced special silver versions of the K800 and K790 Cyber-shot™ camera phones as used by James Bond in the eagerly awaited new Bond movie, Casino Royale. These exclusive new camera phones which will be available for a limited period of three months, enable the world’s most famous secret agent to stay on top of the action with exactly the same sense of style and performance as Sony Ericsson phones bring to everyday life. So whether it’s ‘enemy surveillance’ or you just want to take high quality photos and share them instantly with friends and family, the Cyber-shot™ K800 and K790 phones are a must.

Casino Royale is released globally on 17 November 2006. Daniel Craig stars as "007" James Bond, the smoothest, sexiest, and most lethal agent on Her Majesty's Secret Service. Based on the first Bond book written by Ian Fleming, the story reveals the making of the world's greatest secret agent.

The silver K800/K790 phones are a natural fit with the cool, sophisticated style of James Bond – a man who doesn’t do things by half-measures. Both are highly capable mobile phones that also provide cutting edge camera features, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with Autofocus, Xenon Flash for lowlight conditions and BestPic™, which allows the user to take nine pictures of a moving object simultaneously and choose to keep the best shot. No special edition handset of this caliber would be complete without a host of “007”-themed content. The silver K800 and K790 Cyber-shot™ phones are equipped with Bond wallpapers, music ringtones and the full video movie trailer. The phones also offer Picture Blogging for uploading photos to a personal online blogsite & PictBridge™ for printing direct to a printer, without the need for a PC or laptop.

Sony Ericsson K320, Z558 and more.......

After some heavy action from the Nokia camp this week, Sony Ericsson strikes back with several new and updated models such as the Sony Ericsson K320, Sony Ericsson Z558, Sony Ericsson W830, Sony Ericsson W958c and Sony Ericsson Z550a models.

Sony Ericsson K320

The Sony Ericsson K320 is a new compact budget-oriented member of the K-series. It would feature a 1.8" (128x160 pixels) 65K UBC display, a VGA camera, an Infrared port, as well as USB and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. The Bluetooth capabilities of the device are enhanced by a proprietary Sony Ericsson technology called Automatic Bluetooth Pairing which basically means that the mobile would pair with a compatible Bluetooth headset automatically without the need of entering a passcode. The device would support tri-band GSM/GPRS networks. It will be available on selected markets in Misty Silver, Graphite Grey and Light Brown color combinations from October 2006 onwards.

Sony Ericsson Z558

The Sony Ericsson Z558 is the first non-smartphone of the manufacturer that comes equipped with a touchscreen. The clamshell would offer a 1.3 megapixel camera, FM radio and a Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot. The 1.9" 262K color TFT touchscreen display with a 220x176 pixels resolution would allow for English handwriting recognition. Sony Ericsson Z558 also has an external color STN display with a resolution of 128x36 pixels. Connectivity features of the device include support for tri-band GSM/GPRS networks along with Bluetooth functionality. Besides the regular Z558i version it would have a Z558c one, designed for the Mainland China. The latter would have support for Chinese characters input. Sony Ericsson Z558 would be publicly available in 'Espresso Black' from October 2006.

Sony Ericsson W830

The Walkman-branded W830 is an EDGE version of the W850 and would be targeted at the Asian market. The mobile comes with a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo card in the package and the music playing experience is enhanced by the stereo FM radio with RDS, the Walkman 2.0 music player and the PlayNow 3.0 direct music download service featuring Sony BMG artists. Besides all that, the device would have a 2.0" 262K colors TFT display with a QVGA resolution and a 2 megapixel camera. When it comes to connectivity the choice is also rather rich - W830c would have tri-band GSM networks support with EDGE, USB 2.0, and Bluetooth 2.0 with support for the A2DP profile meaning that you could listen to music on a stereo Bluetooth headset.

The final two mobiles are the Sony Ericsson W958c and Sony Ericsson Z550a. The W958c Walkman is targeted at the Mainland China market exclusively. It features a large 2.6" touchscreen TFT display and is based on the Symbian 9.1 OS with the UIQ 3.0 user interface. This is the second smartphone of Sony Ericsson after Sony Ericsson M608c and announcing it means that Sony Ericsson has obviously decided to cancel the previously announced Chinese version of the W950 model - W950c. The only difference is that now W958c won't have UMTS support.

Sony Ericsson Z550a on the other hand is an Americas version of the Z550 clamshell that is already available elsewhere. It would have quad-band GSM support with GPRS, Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory slot, FM radio, Bluetooth and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

New Nokia N-Series - N95 and N75

Nokia N-95
Nokia announced a couple N-series multimedia devices today or multimedia computers as they like to call them. First off is the Nokia N95, a top-of-the-line camera slider with 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA and built-in GPS navigation system. Then comes the clamshell Nokia N75, the smallest N-series device to date, with a 2 megapixel camera and 3G support.

Nokia N95 is a descendant of Nokia N80 and offers a first of its kind 2-way sliding construction along with many other high-end features. The integrated GPS functionality has been becoming increasingly popular in hand-held devices. Embracing that trend, Nokia N95 comes with an integrated GPS module which working alongside with the preinstalled Maps application can help you navigate through the busy city streets as easy as you would with a in-dash automobile GPS system. Besides that, it's the first HSDPA (3.5G) mobile of the Finnish manufacturer. HSDPA is not so wide spread right now but undoubtedly it would be the leading standard for fast data transfers to mobile devices in the future. Besides HSDPA, Nokia N95 features all other current connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, 3G and EDGE, quad-band GSM, stereo Bluetooth, Infrared and USB 2.0 plus a TV-out port.

Nokia N-75
The all-around musical experience is enhanced by the presence of the built-in stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm audio jack for using regular headphones, FM radio and microSD memory card slot which currently means that the mobile can accommodate up to 2GB of additional memory besides the 160MB internal one. In an attempt to turn it into an all-time reigning multimedia champion, Nokia engineers have integrated into N95 an impressive 5 megapixel camera with Carl-Zeiss optics, autofocus and the capability of recording videos at DVD-like quality.

Having in mind all that, it comes as a pleasant surprise that the mobile has rather reasonable dimensions, being slimmer and even lighter than Nokia N80. The device is equipped with a large 2.6" TFT display with a QVGA (240x320) resolution.Nokia N95 would be available in the first quarter of 2007 and is expected to hit the shelves at a price of 550 EUR.

Nokia N75 is a 3G clamshell (WCDMA 850/1900) that is meant to change the image of a smartphone as a cumbersome device you need a bag to carry in. It measures 95x52x20 mm which makes one of the smallest Nokia N-series device today. It has two color TFT displays and the external one is perfect for commanding your music player straight from the outer multimedia keys. Music however is not the only thing that Nokia N75 is made for. The 2 megapixel camera with flash LED and the 2.4" main TFT display capable of showing 16 million colors at a QVGA (320x240 pixels) resolution provide for a nice multimedia experience whether you are taking pictures on a family vacation or simply watching videos. Besides 3G, EDGE and quad-band GSM, the N75 offers a microSD memory card slot for expanding the 60MB internal memory and stereo FM radio which can easily be listened to through the integrated stereo speakers.
